Carlos Slim Helu become The Richest Man in the World

Forbes Magazine has released with their annual list of billionaires and at the top of the list isn't Bill Gates. Mexican telecom executive Carlos Slim Helu was listed as the richest man in the world, with a fortune estimated to be $53.5 billion. Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, dropped away to number two with an estimated $53 billion. While Legendary investor Warren Buffet followed in third, with his fortune said to be $47 billion.

Carlos Slim Helu has the bulge of his luck tied up in his mobile phone company, America Movil. The company is the biggest mobile phone provider in all of Latin America, with a reported more than 150 million customers. Recently, Carlos Slim Helu has turn more known in the U.S. by investing $250 million into the ailing NY Times Company.
